Rick and Monica Babbitt
are your hosts for a pleasurable and
relaxing stay at either our fishing camp
or apartment. Monica has had roots here
for over 40 years. The fishing camp is on
the site of their original camp alongside
Petit Caillou Bayou.
Monica is a former nurse, enjoys outdoor
activities, gardening, and during your
stay can give you a crash course in the
basics of cajun cooking.
Rick has been a homebuilder for almost 30
years and their home is a product of his
own design. He is also the cook for the
traditional seafood boils that their
visitors enjoy.
Residing along with Rick and Monica is
Sambeau, the neighborhood's resident black
Labrador. Sambeau puts new meaning in the
word "fetch" by wearing out the thrower
long before he gives up. Rounding out the
"family" are five wild ducks that don't
let you forget when it's time for a
handful of corn.
We truly love the area we live in,
Cocodrie. It is rich in memories for a lot
of the local people, and is making new
memories for a new generation. It is a
peaceful area, one that you can relax in,
enjoy and catch a glimpse of how life on "da
bayou" used to be. We hope you can
come and spend some time with us on the
island and maybe take a little bit of
south Louisiana home with you.
